Directed by Rick Alverson (Entertainment, The Mountain) and starring alternative comedy icon Tim Heidecker, The Comedy is a piercing critique of millennial amorality, taking as its subject one of the most off-putting lead characters to grace contemporary American film. Indifferent to the notion of inheriting his father’s estate, a restless, aging New Yorker (Heidecker) passes time with his friends in games of mock sincerity and irreverence. Also starring Eric Wareheim, James Murphy (aka LCD Soundsystem) and Gregg Turkington.

Mikey Hamer

Mikey Hamer is a Boorloo-based director and cinematographer whose work blends dreamy, delicate visuals with a raw sense of emotional truth. With 17 years behind the camera, he’s carved out a style that feels both ethereal and grounded. Growing up on Australia’s east coast, he was shaped early by the offbeat genius of filmmakers like Terry Gilliam, Miranda July, and David Wain — influences that still echo in his love for the odd side of cinema. From an ARIA-nomination at 21, to shooting long-form social-change projects like ABC’s Perspective Shift and his debut indie feature Ugly Carter (coming 2026) Mikey moves fluidly across formats, always looking for honest stories told through striking, atmospheric imagery.
