Switchblade Sisters (1975)

Switchblade Sisters (1975) is directed by Jack Hill, and is a title that has come up a lot as an exploitation drive in classic (Tarantino re-released it on his Rolling Thunder label in the late 90s, I think). A teen gang of girls led by the intense Lace (Robbie Lee, delightfully gnashing at the scenery) welcomes a new member – Maggie (Joanne Nail, great) – who causes rifts and tensions but also empowers them to strike out on their own, renaming themselves “the Jezebels”. Cartoonishly violent with teen male gangs who all look like they are 35 years old and a Black Panther style gang of women who brandish Mao’s little red book alongside their automatic weapons, this was pretty entertaining, especially if you are up for this type of violent exploitation fare with all the genre trappings (as well as a 70s funk soundtrack by Medusa).
