Band Of The Hand (1986) is a Michael Mann produced action flick that I’d long heard about. Our heroes are five teen delinquents who are taken from juvie and thrown into the Miami swamps to learn self-value and survival skills through the tutelage of a Vietnam war vet named Joe (Stephen Lang from Don’t Breathe who gives the best performance). After they’ve bonded as a team, they take the next step of cleaning up the streets of drug dealers including “Larry” Fishburne with a great fade haircut and a sinister James Remar. I enjoyed it – I would’ve loved this if I saw it when I was 13. Amazing to think that the weirdo juvie who likes making bombs is John Cameron Mitchell who would go on to star/write/direct Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Features a bluesy rock theme song by Bob Dylan and The Heartbreakers.
