Trash Classics: Troll 2

Directed by Claudio Fragasso (under the fake name of Drake Floyd), Troll 2 has been hailed the “Best Worst Movie”. Originally produced under the name of Goblins, the film was retitled to cash in on the success of forgotten Gremlins knock-off, Troll. A non-sequel in essence that also doubles as a message movie about vegetarianism, Troll 2 follows a family who moves to the small farming town of Nilbog (we can’t spoil what it means backwards!) and are slowly taken over by goblins who don’t eat meat and transform people into plants! It’s up to the plucky kid Joshua to save his family from a fate worse than plant!

There’s also a ghostly grandfather, a seductive witch, some poisonous milk, a Stonehenge stone and a very strange way of making popcorn. Filled with eccentric acting, bad line readings, cheap special effects and super-predictable plot twists, this is a one-of-a-kind celluloid experience, which you can experience in a cinema for the first time in Perth (we assume – this thing would’ve gone straight-to-video back in the day)!

Presented by VHS Tracking and Luna Cinemas, this will be a special night of big laughs and bizarre sights! Hosted by Tristan Fidler (from The Room screenings and RTRFM’s Movie Squad).
